Nice piece. I’ll add my own speculation: with the ascendancy of SSI and verifiable credentials, it won’t be necessary to store data on a blockchain to prove both its source and integrity, it can be stored anywhere. As long as key material can be protected, you can ensure integrity of any off-ledger data, making the blockchain/protocol layer even leaner.
